MALMÖ (See and hear): Although the first semi-final in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is not until Tuesday, the music competition opens already on Sunday. It is all celebrated with a grand opening ceremony.
– Actually got a little scared
All countries, minus Israel, are expected to walk down the turquoise runner that has been rolled out in the host city of Malmö.
The reason why the Israeli artist Eden Golan (20) will not be seen during the opening ceremony is that it coincides with the Israeli Holocaust Remembrance Day, writes Expressen.
The day of remembrance is marked on the 27th day of the month of Nisán (the first month of the Jewish calendar, ed. note), which is early in the year. Just this year, Remembrance Day is marked from the evening of May 5 to the evening of May 6.
This year it is the Malmö Live congress and concert hall that has been given the honor of hosting the event, with the Swedish drag artist Elecktra and the British drag artist Tia Kofi at the forefront as conference hosts.
In previous years, the opening ceremony has been held in places such as Oslo City Hall, La Venaria Reale Castle in Turin and St. George’s Hall in Liverpool.
The case will be updated when the participants arrive at the turquoise runner!
Belgium’s artist Mustii has previously been a judge in “Drag Race” in Belgium, and explains that he loves glitter – probably to explain his hands, which are covered in gold.
Now he tells the drag community that it is their turn to judge him.
– I hope that both young and old can identify with this song, because it is about living freely as who you are. Life is so short, and so fragile, you don’t want to regret anything – you have to live in the present.
On the red carpet, Kaleen pays tribute to the Norwegian contribution, Gåte, and says that she likes the song very much.
– I love them! I saw the selection on TV and I love the song, I love the vibes, especially in this year’s Eurovision. I am looking forward to talking to them, she says to the Norwegian press.
Gåte met the Norwegian press on the turquoise runner, and says that it felt strange to finally speak in Norwegian.
– There are an extremely large number of very committed people, and it is a world that has opened up to us that we did not know existed. We just plunge into it with all of us, explains frontwoman Gunnhild Sundli.
They explain that they suddenly feel like superstars, after everything they have done in the run-up to their arrival in Malmö. They describe it as an “unpretentious” environment.
Sundli has walked down the turquoise runner and shown off her vocal prowess. When asked how they go with the voice.
– That works nicely! It’s going very, very well.
When asked about security, they say that everything seems to be under control and that they feel safe.
Portugal’s artist wore a revealing outfit.
Norway and Gåte will play in the second semi-final on Thursday 9 May. There they will fight for a place in the final on Saturday 11 May, where among others Marcus and Martinus from Sweden will be ready on stage.
– Very, very wrong
