Storhamar – Sola 25–27 (0-1 in matches)

Coach Kenneth Gabrielsen sat alone on the bench for a long time after the game.

– We got off to a terrible start with two missed shots and four technical errors. We didn’t get any rhythm on it and we fell right into the trap with their 5-1 defense, which I didn’t think we were going to do. We were too bad both with and without the ball, and then it turned out like this. We fought our way back into the game, but there was poor rhythm throughout the game. The defense improved in the second half, but we struggled with the attacking play for 60 minutes, unfortunately. There was a lot that was too bad, says Kenneth Gabrielsen.

He adds:

– It was a strange match. An extremely poor game by us. We have ourselves to blame. They wanted more than us throughout the game. We were on our heels throughout the match, says the Storhamar coach.

Terribly bad start

Sola therefore came out in a 5-1 defence, with Camilla Herrem in front, and the home team were properly taken to bed. It read 0-5 after a terrible start with sloppiness, mispasses, blocked shots and refusals.

All the players in yellow and blue looked paralyzed.

Mia Solberg Svele scored Storhamar’s first goal after ten minutes and 27 seconds: 1–5.

Then came a very good period for the yellow and blue, who came up 4–5 and 5–6.

But Sola never let Storhamar go all the way, and kept the lead for the rest of the half.

At the end, Steffen Stegavik’s girls pulled away again, and they led 13-16 at half-time, after Guro Nestaker had kicked in the home team’s 13th goal in the last second of the half.

It was a very weak game by Storhamar, with the exception of a six-minute period, where they played up the back of Sola.

There were many personal mistakes – and not least too many missed shots.

12 in save percentage

In addition: Eli Marie Raasok went to the dressing room after 30 minutes with two saves (12 in save percentage).

Storhamar got off to a great start in the second half, and Eli Marie Raasok was clearly hungry for revenge. She made two quick saves.

Storhamar came up on 16-16.

There was much better rhythm at the start of the half, and the accuracy of the shots also increased.

Raasok continued to play well, and among other things saved a free throw.

But Sola was very good at the dance, and it was 18-18 after nine minutes of the second half.

Exciting ending

The away team led 20–22 after 17 minutes of the second half.

Then followed a few minutes with a lot of mess.

The Sun led 21–23 after 21 minutes.

Olivia Löfqvist and Mathilde Rivas-Toft signed up with their first scores and 23–24.

Before Anniken Obaidli put in 24-24, with his first goal of the game.

Camilla Herrem answered: 24–25.

Then Kenneth Gabrielsen took a timeout.

With five minutes left.

From there on in, Sola was notched in front. The home team squandered two attacks at the very end.

It ended 25–27.

– This was crazy

Guro Nestaker said this after the match:

– We can’t say that we were surprised by the 5-1 defence, because we have prepared for it to happen. It was very strange. There were technical errors and many missed shots. It was a terrible start. This was crazy. There was a lot of chasing and we caught up with 12 minutes to go, but they were better than us today. This was boring, says Guro Nestaker.

– There was a lot of frustration

Anniken Obaidli was also really disappointed.

– We were prepared for a 5-1 defence, but we didn’t get any flow from it. We made it difficult for ourselves. They came out in 100, and we must be ready for that. There was a lot of frustration, but we will manage to keep a cool head, says Anniken Obaidli.
