Erling Braut Haaland became the big hero with his four goals for Manchester City against Wolves on Saturday night.

The Norwegian has had to endure a lot of criticism recently, but hit back mercilessly in the important league match.

In a TV interview in the aftermath of the match, he also broke his silence about one of his biggest critics, Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane.

Although he was on fire, Haaland was rather reluctantly dragged off the pitch by manager Josep Guardiola in the 82nd minute.

The pictures showed that the Norwegian was clearly annoyed about something.

Reaction: – Was cursed

The local newspaper Manchester Evening News highlights the slightly heated exchange between the two when Haaland strolled off the field. Journalist Isaac Johnson noticed the incident and believes it is a good sign for City in the run-up to the season.

“I saw Haaland’s dissatisfaction in conversation with Guardiola – it shows why City wins The Double”, he uses as a headline.

– Despite scoring four goals for the second time this season, Haaland was furious when he left the pitch. The striker was obviously unhappy and was talking to himself on the way to the bench, writes Johnson in a comment for the newspaper.

– He did take the manager by the hand, but it didn’t seem like he had any plans to stay to catch Guardiola’s “pep talk” after the match. He threw the shin pads on the ground after he sat down on the bench, the journalist writes.

At a press conference after the match, Guardiola was able to reveal that Haaland was, among other things, angry because he had not been awarded a free kick in several situations throughout the match when he thought it should have been given and this allegedly irritated the Norwegian.

– His reaction shows a willingness to look at every single detail in the pursuit of improvement, where four goals would be more than good enough for most other strikers to forget the decisions made out on the pitch, Johnson believes.

– The greedy mentality and hunger is a reflection of the team’s ethos at this stage of the season. It is something that can clearly take City over the goal line in the golden game and in the FA Cup final. Haaland’s irritation will only drive him to build on the 36 goals he has scored so far this season and every single goal will be important in the hunt for “the double”, writes the local newspaper.

Guardiola: – Can guarantee it

Manchester City manager Guardiola also spoke about the striker at the press conference after the match.

– There were many situations where we hit Haaland far up in the back room. He won the ball, but was dragged in by the opponent without a free kick being awarded. If it’s shoulder-to-shoulder, then I can understand that, but sometimes he was dragged down.

– Several times he went to the ground and no free kick was awarded. He was simply a little frustrated by this, but I can guarantee that he was a happy man today, says the Spaniard about the 23-year-old.

Also in Viaplay’s studio after the match, they noticed the reaction from Haaland when he was replaced.

– It is easy to interpret that body language there. He is very unhappy, summarized Viaplay’s presenter Gunnhild Toldnes when the images of Haaland rolled across the screen after the match.

– He has only scored four goals. It’s okay to be dissatisfied then, said expert Jan Åge Fjørtoft with a smile.

Saturday’s results mean that City are still in the lead for the league title, although they are currently one point behind Arsenal in the table. The light blues have played one less game and can get past the London club with a win there.
