Aas lives in the neighborhood and went for an evening walk with the dog on the path along the lake on Saturday.
– I heard something colossal crash when the car came down the slope, before it took the guardrail and rolled into the sea, says the dog owner about the car drama.
The motorhome rolled so far that Trude Aas had plenty of time to find her mobile phone, she tells Harstad Tidende.
In this way, she was able to immortalize the last part of the journey when the motorhome crossed the path a hundred meters away from where she had just strolled past.
The downhill run at Trondenes in Harstad was reported at 9.22pm on Saturday by the Troms police district.
– A motorhome must be parked on the shore. No people in the vehicle. It is possible that the car has rolled on its own from a parked state, the police wrote on X.
In an update, the police report that the accident only resulted in material damage.
– Banged on the doors
– A man came running after and pounded on the doors to check if there was anyone inside the car. Fortunately, there was no danger on the way, but there was a lot of noise, says Aas.
She goes for a walk on the trail almost every day, but has never experienced anything like this before.
– And that’s good, she says and chuckles.
– The most important thing is that there were no people in the car, but it must be sad for those who own the motorhome. The police were quickly on the scene, and I went on, says Aas.
The police: – Crossed two roads
Operations manager Per Arve Aas assures that there was never any real danger on the way:
– The motorhome has rolled a good 80 metres. It had been parked at a private address and then started rolling away towards the sea, towards the shore, he tells VG at 11pm on Saturday evening.
– Could this have gone wrong in any way?
– No, it is unlikely. Purely hypothetically, it could, the motorhome has crossed two roads. But there is a limit to how much traffic there is at this time on a Saturday evening.
Bilberger has been ordered and is working on the assignment, according to the police.
– They have control. The tow truck needed a crane, so the mission is still ongoing, but we are not involved in it, concludes Aas.
