Ten years after Apple warned about the same.
The Directorate for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness is asking people to stop using a certain USB charger from Apple. Barely ten years after the company itself warned against it.
– Stop using the charger, says DSB on its website, farligeprodukter.no.
The USB charger in question has the model number A1300 and the letters “CE” in solid grey. According to DSB, the charger can overheat and pose a safety risk.
It was Romerikes Blad that mentioned the case first.
Apple warned against the charger ten years ago
However, it is not the first time we have heard that this particular model can pose a fire hazard. Apple was already out in 2014 and warned against it, asking users to send it back.
The charger came with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s models in the period October 2009 to September 2012.
– If you have an affected device, stop using it and replace it with a new one, says Apple’s own website.
According to the manufacturer itself, overheating occurs in “very rare cases”.
