Andrew Tate arrested in Romania – NRK Urix – Foreign news and documentaries

--

In recent days, Andrew Tate has become known for arguing with Greta Thunberg on social media.

For others, he has long been known for promoting a hypermasculine lifestyle on the internet.

Some see him as a role model, others believe he is the king of toxic masculinity and TikTok’s most dangerous phenomenon.

Now he has been arrested by the Romanian police.

Four people arrested

Romanian police published a press release on their website on Thursday evening.

It says that four men, two of them British citizens, were arrested on Thursday in connection with an investigation which, among other things, deals with human trafficking and rape.

It will be the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism that has been behind the investigation and the arrests.

A video shown on Romanian TV allegedly shows the arrest of Internet phenomenon Andrew Tate.

– The two Britons are said to have tried to deceive the victims into believing that there were romantic feelings involved and possible marriage on the horizon. They were later transported to a house in Ilfov county where they were held against their will, the police write in the press release.

The police write further in the press release about possible misdeeds committed against the women. There must have been six women in total.

Neither Andrew nor Tristan are named in the press release. They will be detained for 24 hours.

Several Romanian media also report that the brothers’ villa was searched earlier in the day.

Andrew Tate has clearly expressed on social media that he has lived the good life in Romania in recent years.

Long investigation

In recent years, Tate has lived in Romania with his brother.

In April this year, their villa was searched by Romanian police following a tip-off that a woman was being held in the house against her will. They were also suspected of rape.

Tate denied the allegations but has been under investigation ever since.

He himself has said he does not want to live in Western countries, partly because of the metoo movement. The statement came in a video he published on his own YouTube channel, which has now been removed.

On 19 August this year, he was banned from both Facebook and Instagram – YouTube and TikTok also followed a short time later.

Videos by Andrew Tate have been viewed nearly 12 billion times on TikTok.
