The Secret Service now confirms that one of its agents who worked with the security of US Vice President Kamala Harris started a fight with several other agents.
The incident took place on Monday morning at Joint Base Andrews on the outskirts of Washington DC
“A Secret Service agent who supported the vice president’s departure from Joint Base Andrews began to exhibit behavior that colleagues found troubling,” said Anthony Guglielmi, communications director for the US Secret Service, to the New York Post.
The agent was immediately taken out of service, the Secret Service says.

Was armed
The vice-president himself was not present when the fight broke out. Nor should the incident have delayed her departure to New York, where she was supposed to take part in a recording of The Drew Berrymore Show.
The agent who started the fight was armed and became aggressive towards others. A shift supervisor and management special agent tried to calm him down, but then a fight broke out, according to a report.

The anonymous agent is said to have acted agitated already when he arrived at the base. A short time later, he sat over the agent with primary responsibility for Harris, while he aimed several blows at him.
Ended up in handcuffs
His guard reportedly ended up handcuffed and medical personnel were called. Harris was notified of the situation, according to Guglielmi.
– The US Secret Service takes the safety and health of our employees very seriously, says Guglielmi.
Subsequently, the employment process behind the agent has come under scrutiny. According to the New York Post, there should have been long-standing concerns about the agent in question, even before Monday’s incident.
