Even before its premiere, the new dating series “MILF Manor” created discussions around the world.
The dating series’ shocking twist
The premise of the series is that eight grown women are sent to Mexico in the hope of finding love with men who are several years younger than themselves.
The catch, however, is that the men the women will date are their own sons. The mothers therefore have to watch while the other women try to capture the hearts of their sons who are in the program.
“MILF” is an abbreviation for “mother I’d like to fuck”, i.e. a mother/adult woman, with whom the user of the term – a younger person – wants to have intercourse.
The reactions were not long in coming. Just days after the series premiered, some viewers had already condemned the show as “the darkest thing I’ve ever seen on TV”.
The relationship is causing a stir
Aftenposten is among the Norwegian media that have written about the scandalous series. They refer to, among others, The Guardian’s reviewer who asks himself if it is “the most disgusting program on TV”.
The New Yorker takes it a little further and believes the series “flirts with incest”.
There is one scene in particular that arouses the attention of many.
In the series’ first episode, the women are given the task of feeling the young boys’ bodies in order to find out who is their own son.
Mother and son also share a room during their stay.
One of the women can also be heard saying, “Sorry ladies, but I’ll probably sleep with your son!”, in the first episode.
Norway’s ugliest celebrity
Rolling Stone also believes the series is dangerously close to incest. The magazine’s journalist, Miles Klee, believes the controversial TLC series uses the “incest fantasies that characterize today’s porn industry”.
The series has also created strong reactions among viewers. Twitter users were not gracious when TLC themselves asked what people thought of the series.
“Stop the series now. It is exponentially small. It’s disgusting and whoever gave the green light for this series should be fired immediately,” wrote one user.
Several referred to the series as “garbage – even for TLC”, while others pointed out that TLC once stood for “The Learning Channel”.
Many users were also outraged by the series, saying the whole thing made them uncomfortable.
Another user believes that the series would never have happened if father and daughter were involved, and calls the series disgusting.
