A man died in a traffic accident in Stavanger

A man in his 40s has died after a traffic accident in Stavanger. Relatives have been notified.

The police in Sør-Vest received information about the accident at 11.14am.

– The accident happened in the culvert that runs between Verksalmenningen and Haugesundsgata. A man in his 40s has died, says operations manager in the South-West police district Dag Steinkopf.

The culvert is closed, and the road is also closed on the stretch from the roundabout at the Bergelands tunnel to the roundabout towards Verven.

– The police are investigating the accident, and we will now try to find out the cause of the accident, says the operations manager.

It is currently unknown when the stretch will be opened to traffic again.

– We are working to clarify what caused the accident. There are two vehicles where something has happened and we need to clarify what it is, he says.
