According to Spanish police, a young boy lost his life after falling more than 15 meters from a hotel in Costa Blanca in Spain.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that they are aware that a Norwegian citizen has died in Spain.

– The next of kin are aware of the death. Due to the duty of confidentiality, we cannot give further details in this case, says senior adviser Lars Gjemble to VG.

Several British media have covered the incident.

An unnamed police spokesperson tells the Daily Mail, among others, that a young boy has lost his life. According to the newspaper, he is said to have fallen from a hotel in the Costa Blanca on Sunday afternoon.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and died later that evening, according to Spanish police.

The police say that they are investigating the incident, which several people are said to have witnessed, but that everything indicates that it was an accident.

Sjømannskirken keeps its doors open

A representative of the Spanish police tells the British media that the boy did not stay at the hotel where the incident happened.

The Norwegian Seamen’s Church in Costa Blanca is now working to take care of those affected after the fatal accident.

– We have had the church open for mourners this evening, and will open again tomorrow. Those who wish will have the opportunity to come by and light candles, draw pictures, have someone to talk to or just be quiet, says Gjerulf Noddeland, seaman’s priest in Costa Blanca to VG.
