Earlier this afternoon, the police released a message about the rescue operation that had been started.

Operations manager Kai Eriksen at the Nordland police district tells NRK that one person has been taken out, and that cardiopulmonary resuscitation was started on those who were in the entourage.

The police were notified of the accident shortly before 16.

Not the first drowning accident

Pluragrotta is Northern Europe’s largest water-filled cave system, and is located approximately three miles east of Mo i Rana. It is considered to be one of the best cave diving sites in Scandinavia, and is popular with sport divers from all over the world.

In 2014, two Finnish cave divers died one and a half kilometers inside the cave system.
