The case is updated!

(Hamar Arbeiderblad): – This is a very difficult day for everyone concerned, says general manager of HamKam Football, Bent Svele in a press release.

The club writes that it is with great sadness that they have received the message that “Akillas” has died. They send their warmest thoughts to his family and relatives.

The cause of death is currently unknown.

The club adds that no further comments beyond this press release will be made at this time.

In order to get to the bottom of what has happened, the body must be autopsied. The family has been informed of the death.

The youngster was at home in the Ivory Coast over Christmas and New Year, but has been in Norway for a while now.

Due to medical challenges, he has not been able to train football as normal, but he has been around the team and has been followed up by the club with whom he has a contract until the 2024 season.

After the club did not get in touch with him, they decided to break into the youngster’s apartment on Tuesday. There Archange “Akillas” Defrignan Mondou was found dead.

“Akillas” impressed from the first kick on the ball after he came as a trial player in the winter before the 2023 season. He distinguished himself in matches for the second team and in training with the elite series players.

On 23 September, in the 2-0 win over Strømsgodset, he was part of the squad for the last time.

The reason for the subsequent absence was that the great talent did not pass the NFF’s mandatory medical test for games at the top level in Norway.

HA-sporten writes that challenges with the heart have meant that the 2004 model has had to stay away from hard training sessions with a high heart rate after the medical test was carried out.

In September there was an incident in training where he went to the ground and needed supervision from the club’s medical team.

In retrospect, “Akillas” has undergone a number of investigations to get to the bottom of what the heart problems are about, and whether there has been any possibility of getting him back into normal training. In that way, he would also have been able to pursue his professional dream further.
