The plenary meeting approved the project and the financial report that will accompany the application for a license for operation and municipal management of the port, which has been under private management for many years.
The city council in plenary has unanimously and with the support of all the political groups decided to apply to the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility for a license for the operation and municipal management of the Porte i l’Olla d’Altea for a period of 30 years.
This request will be accompanied by a redevelopment project worth 1,113,000 euros, the aim of which is to make the management of the nautical use compatible with the protection of the natural monument located here. During the last plenary meeting of the legislative assembly, it was reminded that the concession, which is currently managed by a private person, expires on 17 June this year. It is therefore urgent to get the agreement to approve the pre-project and the economic-financial study, which aims to make the management of the nautical use compatible with the protection of the natural monument Vulkanustspringet and the Cap Negret fossil beach in Altea.
As Councilor Jose Orozco reported, “one of the objectives of the concession is for it to be used by the general public”, stressing that “the concession that Altea’s Town Hall has already granted to the Carabineros barracks for rehabilitation and conversion into a nature classroom and a center for marine research, where training is carried out and used for nautical and environmental purposes, will make El Portet a place where you can practice on the spot”.
If the request is approved by the regional ministry, it will lead to a new phase where the license conditions, both legal, financial and temporal, must be assessed, and which will necessarily be subject to a statement from the information commission and subsequent approval by the plenary.
