Cristiano Ronaldo was accused by the English Football Association on Friday of knocking a mobile phone out of the hand of a supporter after the match against Everton in April.
– The incident is alleged to be inappropriate or violent, says a press release.
– We will support Ronaldo in this case, United says in a comment.
Ronaldo later apologized to the 14-year-old boy, who later turned out to be autistic.
– It is never easy to cope with the emotions in difficult moments like we are now in. In any case, you must always show respect and patience and set a good example for all the young people who love this game. I want to apologize for what I did and if possible I would like to invite him to Old Trafford for a match, the Portuguese wrote.
He also called his family.
However, the mother was not impressed. She declined the invitation and in an interview with the Daily Mirror called Ronaldo “the most arrogant man she had ever spoken to”.
It is not clear what kind of punishment is most relevant, but Ronaldo must now explain himself before a decision is probably made about either suspension, fine or also that he goes free – almost half a year after it actually happened.
