The 27-year-old’s contract with the reigning Turkish league champions actually expires in the summer of 2024, but Trondsen has now agreed with Trabzonspor to terminate the agreement and end the contractual relationship.
It is expected that the parties will confirm this within a few days.
Trondsen was brought in from Rosenborg in the summer of 2020. He underwent surgery earlier in 2022 after sustaining a thigh injury. The stay in Turkey has generally been characterized by injuries, which has meant that there have not been as many matches as the midfielder had probably envisioned.
He is listed with a total of 14 matches during his stay in the Turkish champion club. Primarily, he has been used as a left back in these matches.
Trondsen has not been registered in Trabzonspor’s squad this season and is listed as part of the Turks’ reserve team.
Trondsen has not responded to Nettavisen’s inquiries regarding this matter.
Where the journey goes further in his career is still not clear, but even if the former Stabæk, Sarpsborg and Rosenborg player will soon leave Trabzonspor, there is still interest in Trondsen’s services. According to what Nettavisen learns, Swedish IFK Gothenburg has already presented a concrete offer to secure his services.
According to what Nettavisen understands, the Allsvenskan club will be a current destination for Trondsen. They also reportedly tried to sign him in the summer window, but were unsuccessful that time.
In any case, he is now free to sign with a new club as soon as the termination of the contract with Trabzonspor becomes public. He can then commit to a possible new club.
It remains to be seen whether it will be in Gothenburg for the big club IFK.
