This summer, Mohamed Salah signed a new contract with Liverpool, making him the club’s best-paid player by far.

The American website Sportico has come up with a report where they look at the highest paid players in the world. It was the Liverpool Echo that mentioned it first.

It has been reported that Salah is now on a weekly wage of £350,000 – before bonuses. That means he is guaranteed a basic salary of just over £18m a year. In addition, he has major personal sponsorship deals with Adidas, Pepsi, Vodafone and Oppo, and according to Sportico, that will amount to a total of £39.5 million in payments this season.

Number five in the world

With the sponsorship deals included, he is ahead of Eden Hazard, Andres Iniesta, Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne and Antoine Griezmann, according to Sportico.

In front of Salah we find Neymar (£82.6M a year), Lionel Messi (£100M a year), Cristiano Ronaldo (£102.5M a year) and at the very top is Kylian Mbappé. With his new contract and all personal sponsorship deals, he will be paid a staggering £113.5 million a year.

It must be taken into account that we do not know where Sportico got the figures, and that Liverpool FC have never confirmed how much Salah’s new contract is worth or what his personal sponsors are paying, so such claims must always be taken with a grain of salt.
