Lars Ranger will not be seen on the pitch for Lillestrøm next season. Backen has suffered a cruciate ligament injury that requires surgery, writes Romerikes Blad.

The club’s physiotherapist Geir Kåsene confirms the injury to the newspaper.

– We have known that Lars has suffered a cruciate ligament injury, but we have been waiting to see what we should do. The cruciate ligament has not ruptured, and therefore it was considered whether we could avoid surgery. Now it has been decided that he will have an operation, says Kåsene.

Ranger was injured in a training match against Mjøndalen in Marbella earlier in March.

– We waited to see if we could avoid surgery, but as long as it didn’t work, we now know that the 2024 season is over for Lars, says Kåsene.

Earlier in March, Lillestrøm sold right back Eskild Edh to Swedish AIK. Rangers’ knee injury may mean that LSK have to look for a replacement in the full-back position before the start of the season.

According to Romerikes Blad, the club is close to getting a new back in place. Swedish Eric Larsson, who plays for the Greek club OFI, will finalize negotiations on a transfer to Lillestrøm on Sunday, writes RB.

Ranger recently signed a new contract with the club that runs until the 2026 season.

– We knew this was a possible outcome when Lars signed a new contract. Lars himself has taken it in stride and is ready to do the work required to return next season, says Kåsene.
