But the newly promoted Premier League club got off to a tough start in this raucous goal show.

The Black and Whites took an early lead through Sean Longstaff. After twenty minutes, Gabriel Osho equalized for Luton Town, but it didn’t last long. Two minutes later it was 2-1 after Longstaff scored his second goal of the day.

It was the start of a real goal celebration.

Ross Barkley, who has had a new spring after the failed move to Chelsea, knocked in 2-2 just before the break.

After the hour played, it was suddenly Luton Town who were in the lead when Carlton Morris was ice cold from the penalty spot. The home crowd could hardly believe what they were seeing – and just four minutes later they received another blow in the face when Elijah Adebayo added to make it 4-2.

Luton Town have thus scored four goals in two games in a row. In the previous series round, they won 4–0 against Brighton.

This time, however, it was not enough to take three points. Two quick goals by Kieran Trippier and Harvey Barnes ensured that it was 4-4.

That was also the final result, despite intense Newcastle pressure in the last quarter. Jacob Murphy was closest, but missed from close range.

As a result, the points were shared, as was also the case when Luton Town played 1-1 against Liverpool just over two months ago. Lilleputten has also held Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United to one-goal defeats.

Luton are in 16th place, one point behind Everton on direct relegation. They also have one game to play against the club from Liverpool. Newcastle is in ninth place.
