Curtis Jones appears to have put his injury problems behind him and when he started against Chelsea on Wednesday it was his 25th game of the season. This has also been the season in which he has scored the most goals in his career. He now has five goals this season, and 16 in total in the Liverpool kit.

– It’s mostly about me enjoying it. There have been ups and downs all the time I would say. I’ve had my injuries and things and this is the first time I’ve come into the team and can enjoy it. I play with freedom, score goals and help the team, so I’m very happy, Jones said in an interview with TNT Sports after the victory against Chelsea.

New, young and fresh

Jones believes he is now playing his best football since joining the team. He made his debut for the first team in January 2019 and has been part of the first team for five years now.

– I joined the team when I was 17, and it wasn’t easy. But Klopp kept in touch with me all the time and we had talks, so he always said: “your time will come”. I’ve come to a point now where my time has come and I’m taking my chance. I had to adapt my game a lot, and I have done that now, he says.

He is optimistic about what the Reds can achieve this season.

– There is optimism around the team, it is a new, young and fresh team. There has obviously been a change from the way we play, and with the boys who have come in. Usually it takes a little time to adjust, but the players have adjusted quickly, coming in and playing their roles.

– It’s not just about individual players here, like Mo (Salah) who scores all the goals. Other players, like me, Dom (Szoboszlai) and Conor (Bradley) will help, Trent (Alexander-Arnold) always does. It spreads throughout the team.

Arsenal – Liverpool will be played on Sunday at 17.30, and will be shown on V Sport PL and Viaplay.
