The Norwegian played the first 18 holes at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas one stroke over par, and is nine strokes behind leader Harry Hall from England.
That holds for a shared 68th place.
- The PGA tournament is broadcast on Eurosport Norway and discovery+.
Hovland recorded a bogey already on hole two on Thursday, but apart from that he only made par on the first 13 holes of the round. Then came two birdies in a row, which meant that Hovland climbed to a provisionally shared 16th place.
However, it was to quickly go down again, because on hole 16 there was a double bogey. After par on the last two holes, Hovland thus finished one shot over par.
On Friday, Hovland kicks off at 15:04 Norwegian time, and once again teams up with American Kurt Kitayama and Australian Cam Davis.
