This is revealed in the national biathlon team’s WC selection, presented via a press release on Monday morning. The championship in Oberhof starts on February 8.

Five biathlon women have been selected for the world championships, but the door is not closed hero closed for Eckhoff: The association informs that one reserve will be withdrawn after the EC and IBU Cup in Obertilliach.

However, the 32-year-old has not been selected for the EC either.

Eckhoff is looking forward to racing this season, and told VG in August that she was considering ending her career after she met the wall this spring.

– I went on a rampage. It started when I got corona after the World Cup races in Holmenkollen. Then I had some after-effects and then I had to take a break. I struggled with sleep and was simply exhausted, Eckhoff said then.

She has trained alone and a lot with her boyfriend Ånund Lid Byggland since May and has not taken part in the national team’s meetings.

In November, the Norwegian Biathlon Union stated in a press release that Eckhoff had to take another break, and therefore would not participate in training or competitions in the time that followed.

Since December, the 32-year-old has at least been back in training, but the national team has therefore decided that the WC will come too early.
