The fee corresponds to three times the annual fee to the stock exchange, the airline stated in a message on Friday morning.

It is Nasdaq Stockholm’s disciplinary committee that has decided to issue the fee.

In the press release from the airline, they write that Nasdaq has given SAS the fee because the news of the strike reached the media before the company had informed the stock exchange.

Minimize the consequences

SAS writes that the interest in the mediation between SAS and the pilots was very high both at home and abroad and that it was therefore important to inform quickly that there was a strike on 4 July in order to minimize the consequences for the customers.

– SAS published a regulatory press release about the strike as soon as it was possible, but due to technical reasons the press release was published a few minutes after the news reached the reporters outside the premises where mediation took place, SAS writes in the message.

SAS apologizes that the news reached the media a few minutes before the press release was published and writes that they have “taken measures to strengthen the procedures to ensure that inside information does not reach the media before the company has completed the distribution of a regulatory press release”.

Not public amount

To Dagens Næringsliv, investor contact Louise Bergström in SAS states that the fee is an agreement that is not public and that the company will therefore not state the size of the fee.

The pilot strike this summer lasted two weeks before the parties reached an agreement and SAS has been granted bankruptcy protection in the USA due to the company’s major financial problems.

The airline had to cancel several thousand flights as a consequence of the strike and is still struggling with the backlog. This autumn they have announced that they are canceling around 1,700 departures due to backlogs and delayed aircraft deliveries.
