After Cyberpunk 2077’s disastrous launch in 2020, interest in the game dropped sharply. Two years later, however, player numbers have started to pick up again, reports CD Projekt RED.

Via Twitter, the developer says that one million players have visited Cyberpunk 2077 every day this week. It is distributed across all platforms, and on Steam, for example, the game has 60,000 active players right now.

According to Steam Charts, the game peaked at 89,387 Steam players on Thursday. Of course, it’s far from the game’s record – 830,387 in December 2020 – but a fourfold increase compared to the previous month.

The surge in activity coincides with the launch of an update called Edgerunners. This introduces various content based on the new Netflix series of the same name, and also boasts a number of improvements and bug fixes – something that CD Projekt RED has worked on a lot in recent years.

More content is also on the way. Earlier this month, the developer revealed an expansion called Phantom Liberty, which is scheduled for release next year. This one allows players to explore a new part of Night City, as well as a kind of spy thriller where we get a reunion with Keanu Reeves’ character Johnny Silverhand.
