This happened at Lunde primary school not far from the center of Skien.

The man was intoxicated and aggressive and appeared completely out of his depth, says operations manager Marianne Stabell Mørch in the South-East police district.

He is said to have behaved threateningly towards both the children and the pupils.

He is also said to have displayed a weapon, the police say.

After the man ran from the scene, the police armed themselves and were quickly on the scene.

Arrested

After a short time, they arrested the man, the police say.

The police were notified of the incident shortly after 1 p.m.

The school has sent out this message to parents after the incident:

Hello all parents. Today, a man appeared in Lundedalen in the last minute of recess.

Save students

Some students found him threatening, and rumors arose about a gun, among other things.

We called the police, who quickly came to the school and took care of the person in question. Some pupils have been a little afraid to go home, but we have informed them at the call that it is safe.

Contact the contact teacher if you have any questions. Management etc

The principal at Lunde primary school, Line Refsdal, says that the situation started with some students who perceived a man as threatening.

– And then we chose to call the police, who came and arrested the man. The police came quickly and it went very well, says Refsdal.

She says that the media’s coverage of the incident at the school may have scared some parents.

– That is why we have sent out a message to the parents that it is now safe to send the children home from school again, says Refsdal.
