West Ham’s Vladimir Coufal and two other Czech national team players will not be in action in Monday’s decisive match against Moldova.
Less than 10 minutes ago
The national team announced it on Sunday https://twitter.com/ceskarepre_cz/status/1726188844637471187
– They have left the national team meeting with immediate effect, says the message.
This applies to West Ham player Vladimir Coufal, centre-back Jakub Brabec from Greek Aris Thessaloniki and forward Jan Kuchta from Sparta Prague.
According to the Sport Daily media, the players were seen on Saturday at a nightclub in Olomouc, where the national team will face Moldova on Monday evening.
The media has published photos of the players who were at the nightclub in the company of Tomas Neumann, who is part of the management of the Czech Football Association.
The Czech Republic is second in Group E and needs at least one point against Moldova to secure a place at next year’s European Championships in Germany. Moldova, on the other hand, can take over second place with a win and thus qualify.
The Czech national team manager, Jaroslav Silhavy, who is himself under criticism after a series of poor results, calls the incident “a big disappointment and inconvenience”.
All three players were in the starting eleven when the Czech Republic drew 1-1 with Poland on Friday.
– We expected the players to be ready to play the match. They regret and have apologized to the team, but it is not good enough, Silhavy said.
The Czech Republic has qualified for every European Championship since the country became independent in 1993.
