Politician Mike Villa Fonseca has left the Danish party the Moderates and will become a rogue in the Norwegian Parliament, he himself warns Danish TV 2.
The reason is that he has broken the party’s internal guidelines. His girlfriend is under 18. He is 28.
In the Moderates’ guidelines, it is stated that politicians are not allowed to have sexual relations with persons under the age of 18.
Fonseca announced on Friday evening that he will call in sick, before he returns to politics as a renegade.
– Of course you cannot represent the Moderates if you have sexual relations with children in the 8th grade. That is the bottom line in this case. It is Mike Fonseca who is failing here, says party leader Lars Løkke Rasmussen to Danish TV 2.
Must have consent from parents
According to Rasmussen, the girl is 15 years old. Fonseca is said to have met her when she was still in the 8th grade.
Fonseca himself says that he has consent from both the girl and her parents.
– We are happy, it works for us, we have a good time and it is true love. And we are within the framework of the law. Unfortunately, it is not within the Moderates’ guidelines, and therefore I have to take responsibility and opt out, he says to TV 2.
In Denmark, the sexual minimum age is 15.
Fonseca comes from the town of Køge in East Zealand in Denmark, and has a background as a nurse and firefighter, before becoming a politician.
He says to the channel that he is now coming forward because he has experienced increased interest in his relationship. He does not say where the interest comes from.
– I have tried to keep my private life and working life separate, says Fonseca.
He asked the party leader to leave
According to party leader Rasmussen, it was he himself who informed Fonseca that he had to withdraw from the party.
– It is not possible to defend that adults have a relationship with a pupil who is in the eighth grade. I personally cannot vouch for that, says Rasmussen.
He also says to the channel that he will be hugely disappointed if other parties now take the renegade Fonseca into their party.
The fact that Fonseca is now resigning also has political consequences. With one seat less in the Folketing, the government The moderates are part of is no longer a majority.
