The woman and the man moved to Sweden several years ago, writes Aftonbladet. Both are described as “older”.

According to the newspaper’s information, the woman disappeared eight years ago, and she is said to have been dead for just as long.

Now the police have found her in a freezer in the man’s house, dismembered in various body parts.

Arrived at the hospital

Swedish police confirm that they have started a murder investigation.

– We found a dead woman in a home on Thursday, and in that connection arrested a man, says Torbjörn Roos to Aftonbladet.

He is operations manager at the police in Bergslagen.

The man himself is said to have given the police information about the woman in connection with a hospitalisation. According to the prosecuting authority in Sweden, he denies criminal guilt.

The accused Norwegian is said to be known to both Swedish and Norwegian police from before. Among other things, he has been convicted of drink-driving and illegal driving. In Norway, he has been convicted of rape and crimes of immorality, according to VG.

His lawyer Stefan Liliebäck has been banned from speaking by the prosecution, and therefore cannot comment on the case.

Two neighbors tell VG that they have not seen the man with a woman in the last six years, but that they have heard that he lived with a woman in the past.

The police will not say more about the relationship between the Norwegian man and the woman than that they were acquaintances.

Norwegian police not involved

Kripos informs NTB that it is the Swedish police who speak about the case and that Kripos is not currently involved.

– The Foreign Service is not aware of the case beyond what appears in the media, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tells NTB.

It is not clear whether the woman had been wanted in Sweden or internationally.

– It is something we want to find out, says Dan Grabö to Aftenposten at 5pm on Saturday.

He is operations manager at the police in Bergslagen.

He says that they also have no information about where in Norway the man and woman have their roots.

On Sunday, the Swedish public prosecutor’s office will decide whether they want the man remanded in custody.
