“Landsbytalenter” is a collaboration between Randaberg and Grødem parishes, Randaberg municipality and the Village Association in Randaberg. On Friday evening, 15 young people put on a spectacular show, which was taken by storm by the young audience under the tent cloth in the square in the centre.

– I am very impressed. This is not a competition, but a show, which could almost have been staged in New York. Really impressive, and thank you for letting me take part in this, said Torleif Kvitno, headmaster at the cultural school in Randaberg municipality.

Torleif Kvitno, Tiril Haugstad Ueland and Kathrine Immerstein Gilje sat on the jury for this year’s Village Talents, and were to find three finalists. It was no easy job, because here there were many good young people on stage, who performed with a lot of different things.

Finalists perform on Saturday

The three finalists will perform on stage on Saturday during Høstmarken, and the three are:

  • Gracie Jean Miller with animation.
  • Casper Egeland-Olsen with song.
  • Elias Samuel Randeberg with harmonica.

– I performed a self-produced rap, and made the text and melody myself, and it’s about you being good enough as you are, says Casper (13).

– I was actually supposed to participate with a band, but then nothing came of it, so I decided to go solo. My great-grandfather played the harmonica, and I went for it after having practiced it a bit since the summer, says Elias.

– An animated film I made myself, and I’m really proud of myself for being able to stand on stage. I had little faith in reaching the final, so I was a bit shocked, says Gracie and of course thinks it’s fun.

All three finalists think it was a bit strange to win, that they hadn’t expected it because there were many good ones, but they seem at the same time quite satisfied with coming out on top. Those who make the trip to Høstmarken on Saturday can hear the three finalists perform the same act as they performed on Friday night.
