The terminal can become “Year-round organizer of the year”

--
Synnøve Nesdal Sandnes and the team at Terminalen Byscene can walk away with an industry award!

It is the industry’s own organization “Norwegian cultural organizers” that stands behind the awards, which are awarded annually to candidates, organizers and stages across the country.

– The country’s organizers are putting behind them a year of historic Norwegian stage performances, where price growth and the krone exchange rate have caused headaches, and where the industry once again shows how important they are as a social meeting place. But who was the best in 2023? they ask on their websites, where you can also find the candidates published in various categories.

– We have been nominated in that category several times, but not quite reached the top, so it would have been great if this was the year where we ran away with first place, says Sandnes, who adds that Terminalen has won in two other categories in the past.

– We were “Newcomer of the Year” in 2016, and also received “Moment of the Year” in 2019. The latter applies to photography. The picture that won was from the concert with Karpe, and was taken by photographer Viktor Mauren from Ålesund. Today he is the permanent photographer for the group. That’s completely raw and just shows how much can happen at all levels in an industry like this, she says.

In addition to Terminalen being nominated, Momentium has also received a nomination in the “Newcomer of the Year” category with the new Fiskepiren, which they opened together with several good forces in Stavanger last year.

– It is our sister scene, and a place that has benefited from everything we have done at Terminalen in Ålesund. We brought all our experience into that start-up and it’s really nice that it gets off to such a good start that it gets noticed.

Live by delivering

She is clear that being nominated and receiving awards like this gives good energy back into the team.

– We make a living by delivering every day. After all, it is the completion of each individual event that makes the artists also want to return, but it is a step up to also get a solid pat on the back from colleagues in the same industry. It makes us even more aware that we must continue to deliver quality and professionalism throughout the year, she says.

The winners will be revealed on 7 May and you can read more about the awards here!
