Weather, Temperatures | Heat on the way: It will be 20 degrees here

A cool period is in the offing, and southern Norway can look forward to milder air in the next 21-day period, in several places up to 20 degrees.

– The highest temperatures will probably come in Eastern Norway, but it also looks promising for parts of Southern Norway, and also in Western Norway and central Norway, such as in Bergen and Trondheim, there is a possibility of reaching 20 degrees, says on-duty meteorologist Marit Berger to Nettavisen.

She sits on Wednesday with a fresh 21-day notice, meaning up to and including 15 May.

Takes height for 23 degrees

In Oslo, up to 19 degrees is expected, perhaps 23 at the highest, according to the long-term forecast. Bergen can expect up to 17 degrees at the end of the period, but the forecast also takes into account up to 21 degrees. Trondheim can expect up to 16 degrees, possibly up to 22. – It is next week that we expect to see the temperature rise, says Berger. She explains the chilly weather with cold air from the north. Now high pressure and low pressure are moving, and milder, continental air is expected from the south.

There may be precipitation

– How it will turn out in terms of weather is a bit uncertain. There will not necessarily be sun from a clear sky. There is a possibility of precipitation and some showers, says the meteorologist.

– Who has the best prospects on May 1?

– There can be quite temperatures in Central Norway, for example. For Eastern Norway, precipitation is perhaps a little more likely. In northern Norway, the heat does not come so quickly, so small changes are expected for the week.

– Going the right way

The statistics Marit Berger sits with show that Tromsø (Værvarslinga) has experienced 20 degrees as early as May 7, Trondheim on April 22, Bergen (Florida) on April 14 and Oslo (Blindern) on March 26.

– What is certain is that it is going the right way, towards summer, assures the meteorologist. She reminds that the terrain can be dry and there is a risk of grass fires where the snow has melted and the vegetation has not been replenished by rainfall.

But first: Sleet and snow

– Can you promise that you have finished warning about snow this spring?

– I guess I can’t really do that. Especially in the north of the country there is a possibility of snow. The probability is less in Southern Norway, but tomorrow, Thursday, sleet and snow showers above 400-600 meters are forecast for parts of Eastern Norway. So it is possible that someone will wake up to a white blanket once again, says Berger.
