A car with five people was in danger of falling 100 meters into the sea

A car with five people was close to ending up 100 meters into the sea after a traffic accident in Gloppen. The incident took place at the Eikenes tunnel in the vicinity of Hestenesøyra. The police received a report about the incident at 09.28.

There was an adult and four children on board the car, which ended up partly on its side after an accident. The vehicle was lying on the edge of a cliff where it was 100 meters into the sea.

The five people in the car were afraid that it might fall down and contacted the emergency services.

Arne Rønnekleiv Holme from the fire service has been on the scene. He describes the situation as dramatic. – It could quickly go really wrong. The car was tilting in the wind and there is a steep slope in the place. It was no wonder they were a bit “shaky”, he says.

The five were scared, but escaped the horror, he adds.

– It is always dramatic when the car is not safe, says Stian Kvam in 110 Vest to NRK.

The fire service has gained control of the vehicle and the five people are out of the car. None of them should be physically injured.

The road has been closed, but work will be done to open the road again.

– It is very smooth in the city, says Kvam.
