On Monday afternoon, a boat ran aground in a dock at Vard Langstein in Tomrefjord in Vestnes.

– There has been a controlled evacuation, where people in life jackets have jumped into the sea and been picked up by an MOB boat. There is some material damage, but no personal injuries. As of now, no case for the police, writes the operations center on X/Twitter.

According to Vestnesavisa, there must have been 15 people on board the trawler when the accident occurred.

The trawler in question is the 69 meter long “Gadus Neptun”, which is owned by the shipping company Lerøy Havfisk.

– What happened was that the ship capsized on the way into the dock and that the people on board carried out a controlled evacuation where they went into the sea and were taken ashore by a man-overboard boat, writes Anne Bente Skjellum at Vard’s information department to Sunnmørsposten.

– Unlucky and broken

Shipyard director Ronny Opsjøn Langset in Vard Langsten tells Sunnmørsposten that the crew that was on board is doing well.

– They have now been sent to the hotel via bus. A very unfortunate and broken incident, he says.

It is currently uncertain what resulted in the boat capsizing.
