Stavanger — Brodd took the lead at home at Midjord through Liban Ali Abdi, on a lovely transition after 56 minutes, and looked set to reach the 2nd round of the NM for the first time since 1979.
Then Vidar woke up.
First, Jacob Jørgensen equalized from a free kick after 71 minutes and there was a hint of extra time. Lukas Kristoffersen Emanuelsen would have none of that and thundered home the winning goal from distance after 81 minutes.
– Fantastic! I was unable to shoot directly and instead cut in to shoot. Nice to win this match. Now we hope for Viking, says the match winner to RA.
He of course cheered like a man possessed after the pearl goal. The goal quickly ensures that Vidar gets a dream match against Viking at home in Lassa in the 2nd round. It’s nice in itself, but the celebration of Kristoffersen Emanuelsen also testified that a bit of rivalry is building up between Brodd and Vidar – the clubs fighting to be second best in Stavanger.
It’s not quite Brodd-VBK level yet, but it has ignited well in the last meetings between the two clubs. This was also the case on Thursday.
– There is about to be a bit of a rivalry going on, confirms the Vidar player.
In the other two 1st round matches with local teams on Thursday evening, Staal lost 2–1 at home to FKH. Sandnes Ulf won 6–1 away to Djerv 1919.
