The gala party “Le Bal des Débutantes” in Paris has been ranked by the business magazine Forbes as one of the world’s ten most exclusive events for society. The upper class ball is reserved for the daughters of the Hollywood elite, royalty, business moguls and high-ranking politicians. And both last year and this year, there are Norwegian girls on the guest list.
“Le Bal” was first held in the Orangerie at the historic Palace of Versailles in 1958, and over the years has had princesses from Egypt, India and Europe visit.
Famous family names such as Wallenberg, Gorbachev, Berlusconi, Ecclestone, Carter, Bush and Kennedy testify to powerful families.
Ballet has also attracted the daughters of famous actors, such as Sylvester Stallone (76), Warren Beatty (85), Mads Mikkelsen (56), Bruce Willis (67), Reese Witherspoon (46) and Clint Eastwood (92).
Society queen and prime mover of the ball, Ophélie Renouard, reintroduced the ball in 1994 after a few years’ hiatus, making it even more exclusive. The ceiling was set at 20 people, and there should never be more than two girls from each country.
Last year, Leah Isadora (17) was the Norwegian representative. And she brought her mother, Princess Märtha, with her.
At her debutante ball, Leah Isadora shone in a powder pink dress, designed by the Italian fashion designer Giambattista Valli (56). In advance, Märtha took her middle daughter to Paris to try on dresses in Valli’s studio.
Another attention-grabbing detail of Leah’s outfit was the tiara. Many wondered where the tiara came from.
Se og Hør’s royal house expert, Caroline Vagle, was finally able to reveal the mystery.
– It turns out that V MUSE Jewlery was the official jeweler for the ball this year, and the beautiful tiara Leah borrowed is from 1905, explained Vagle.
This year there will therefore be a new Norwegian element. The artist Angelina Jordan (17) is specially selected. She is invited together with Kiran Sukarno-Seegers, granddaughter of Indonesia’s founding president, Sukarno (1901-1970).
Angelina has lived in Los Angeles since 2018. She became the whole of Norway’s favorite when she won “Norske Talenter” in 2014, where she sang as the jazz legend Billie Holiday. This clip became a viral video online and brought her worldwide media coverage when she was only seven years old.
Since then, she has also impressed in “America’s Got Talent” – and has been a guest in a large number of TV shows.
Today, she has over 550,000 followers on Instagram, and her performances often get 10 million views on YouTube.
Angelina has a recording contract with Republic Records. This summer saw the album “Old Enough”, with the single “Love Don’t Let Me Go”.
According to the ball’s website, she will be dressed by Dolce & Gabbana at “Le Bal”!
