Thailand: – Made shocking discoveries in the nostrils

A 59-year-old woman recently experienced something that could have been taken straight out of a goofy “X Files” episode:

For over a week, the woman – who lives in Chiang Mai province in the north of Thailand – had been complaining of a stuffy nose and facial pain.

At first, she thought it was due to breathing problems as a result of excess dust in the air. According to the Jam Press news agency, this part of Thailand is more prone to respiratory diseases and especially allergies.

However, the truth would turn out to be much worse.

Shock discovery

When the lady started to bleed from the nose, she discovered something that would put a mildly strong shock in the vast majority of us:

Out of her nose, along with the blood, she saw to her horror that dozens of small larvae came out.

The crawling discovery made her get to Nakornping Hospital for an immediate check-up.

Once there, she had X-rays taken, and quite rightly so: When the doctor studied the images, he quickly noticed foreign bodies in the woman’s nostrils.

Could have died

Jam Press reports that a medical team inserted an endoscope to do a thorough check. And it was no wonder that the woman had suffered from a stuffy nose: hundreds of small larvae were found inside her nostrils.

According to local reports, the woman’s condition improved dramatically after the operation where the larvae were removed all at once.

If they had remained, they could have spread over time to nearby organs, such as the eyes or the brain. Had that happened, the insects could cause disability and even death.

There has so far been no official explanation as to how the larvae ended up in the woman’s nostrils.
