At the weekend, the popular Playa Blanca beach on the Spanish island of Lanzarote had to close due to pollution.
This is written by the local newspaper Canarian Weekly, which reports that the reason for the closure is a sewage spill that came from technical errors at a nearby sewage pumping station.
In other words, it is not particularly safe to swim on the otherwise popular beach.
Employees at the pumping station have repaired the damage and the authorities are working to check and take samples of the water to find out if it is safe for residents and tourists to use the beach again.
In the meantime, Playa Blanca is therefore closed to visitors.
Avisa La Voz wrote on Monday this week that the beach is expected to be reopened in the coming days.
