Hamas’s military wing the Qassam Brigades confirms that it has fired rocket-propelled grenades at an area at the Kerem Shalom border crossing.

According to the report, the attack was aimed at Israeli soldiers. Palestinian and Israeli media report that several people have been injured.

Kerem Shalom is located between Israel, the Gaza Strip and Egypt. It plays an important role in bringing emergency aid to Gaza, where parts of the population are affected by famine after seven months of war.

The Israeli online newspaper Ynet reports that around ten rockets were fired from Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Ceasefire talks in Cairo

At the same time that Hamas’s military wing admits that they have fired at the border crossing, several from Hamas’s political wing are in Cairo to consider a proposal for a ceasefire.

The delegation arrived in the Egyptian capital on Saturday morning and said they would not travel there if they did not consider the proposal and the opportunities to be positive.

Israel, for its part, says it has no negotiating delegation there, and will not have one until the demands of Hamas become realistic.

Hamas demands a permanent ceasefire, Israel insists that it must be limited in time.

In a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, it is stated that Israel will not accept demands to end the war.

– The State of Israel cannot accept this. We are not ready to accept a situation where Hamas battalions come out of their bunkers, take control of Gaza again, rebuild their military infrastructure and again threaten the citizens of Israel, Netanyahu said in connection with a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
