While it’s a pretty seamless and intuitive system for inviting friends to games on Xbox systems, for some bizarre reason it’s more of a problem for PlayStation. Fortunately, PlayStation has been working to make this easier, and has now unveiled a new invitation system coming in the coming months.

The system will allow players to generate a shareable link or QR code that can be sent to friends so they can join your game. This will work either via PS5 consoles or on the PS App, and will even allow you to send the link / code through social media apps and messaging systems to distribute it more easily. You don’t even have to be friends with someone on PSN to take advantage of this system.

The system is designed to complement the already existing invitation methods available on PlayStation, and since it’s a new system, Sony notes that many of your games will need to be updated to support it.

In addition to this, we can accept a similar system that allows you to share your PSN account via messages or on social media, making it even easier to make friends and add new friends to your account.

There is no firm date for when these features will launch properly yet.
