Norwegian players scored 23 of the goals as Denmark’s Esbjerg beat FTC Hungaria 29-24 and became the fourth and last team to make it to the Champions League final weekend.

Esbjerg joined Hungarian Györ, French Metz and German Bietigheim.

The Danish club won the away match in Hungary by a one-goal margin and left no doubt in the return match at home in front of 3,143 spectators in a packed hall.

Sanna Solberg-Isaksen was top scorer with six goals, while Live Rushfeldt Deila scored five, Nora Mørk and Kristine Breistøl four each. Henny Reistad (3) and Marit Røsberg Jacobsen (1) completed the Norwegian goal rush for Esbjerg.

Györ, who knocked out defending champions Vipers Kristiansand on Saturday, also have many Norwegian players. Veronica Kristiansen, Stine Bredal Oftedal, Kari Brattset Dale and Emilie Hovden scored a total of ten goals against Vipers on Saturday.

CSM Bucharest with Emilie Hegh Arntzen, Vilde Mortensen Ingstad and Marie Davidsen had to see themselves beaten by Metz in the quarter-finals, and Odense with Thale Rushfeldt Deila, Ragnhild Valle Dahl and Maren Aardahl suffered the same fate against Bietigheim on Sunday.

The semi-finals will be drawn on Tuesday. The finals weekend takes place in Budapest on 1 and 2 June.
