Eliteserien 2024: Brann played with Rosenborg

--

There was good reason for a party atmosphere at the packed Brann Stadion.

– It is in history that when Rosenborg comes to visit, there is something extra. I want to break them in seven, says Fire captain Sivert Heltne Nilsen to TV 2.

After only two minutes, Ole Didrik Blomberg beautifully headed in the first of the match. He was lying on the ground and did not see the ball go into the goal himself, but realized what was happening when he heard the sound.

– I get goosebumps. It was absolutely wonderful, says Blomberg to VG.

He adds:

– Driving over the Trønders in Bergen with a full house… What a show!

Rosenborg’s 16-year-old centre-back Håkon Volden has been praised recently, but he lost the ball in a dangerous area before the goal from behind.

– Today it is too bad, says Volden to VG.

The frustration was obvious at Rosenborg. Coach Alfred Johansson lashed out with his arms on the sideline, assistant Alexander Tettey shook his head and profile Ole Sæter hit the ceiling on the bench when he left.

– We have a young team that has a lot to learn. When you concede early in both halves, it becomes tough, says Johansson.

The second round started like the first: with an early Brann goal. Aune Heggebø nodded in a post from Niklas Fernando Castro.

– Great fun, insane match. It’s almost like you have to lower the ignition level because you get so high on adrenaline, says Aune.

Soon after, Emil Kornvig blew the opportunity to make it 3-0 from the penalty spot.

3–0 came on a scissors kick from Niklas Castro after 75 minutes.

But there will still be some discussion – because then the ball would have already crossed the line on a finish from Heggebø just before:

– He has scored so many already that I can take it, laughs Castro to TV 2.

– When it’s so nice, he’ll get it, smiles Heggebø, who is now the Eliteserien’s top scorer together with Molde’s Kristian Eriksen (four goals each).

– I don’t quite know what to say. It was incredibly delicious. I needed it, because it has been a difficult few months, says Castro to TV 2, referring to the injury problems he has had.

Fire currently tops the Eliteserie tableBodø/Glimt, Molde and Strømsgodset are better off if they win their games. with 14 points in seven games.

“Gullet ska hem”, sang the Brann fans, of course.

After an uplifting start, it has been a nightmare week for Rosenborg with a 0-3 loss at home to Bodø/Glimt, a cup exit against Fredrikstad and the humiliation in Bergen. Trønder have nine points from six elite series matches.
