It has long been rumored that Sonos would launch its first headphones, and a follow-up to the Roam portable speaker sometime in June. Now, however, the Dutch Sonos dealer Schuurman has overtaken them. By mistake, Schuurman has managed to leak pictures and the official name of the new products: Sonos Ace and Sonos Roam 2. This is reported by The Verge, among others.

The images have now been removed, but now live on online:

Sonos Ace wireless headphones

It is expected that the new Sonos Ace headphones will be tightly integrated with other Sonos wireless speakers and soundbars over Wi-Fi through the new Sonos app. This will mean, for example, that you can easily listen to TV sound through the headphones, if you also have a Sonos soundbar, and with the possibility of better sound quality than normal Bluetooth.

According to the Schuurman website, the Sonos Ace will be priced at 400 euros, or approximately NOK 4,700. The big question is therefore whether the Sonos Ace can compete with the best headphones from Sony, Apple and other suppliers when it comes to noise reduction, sound quality – and not least wearing comfort.

Expectations are naturally high, as these are the very first headphones from Sonos. Do they manage to set a new standard in the class, or will they just be a mediocrity in the crowd of earbuds? It remains to be seen/heard!

Sonos Roam 2

As for the updated Sonos Roam 2, there aren’t that many details to glean from the leaked images. The new generation has much the same appearance as its predecessor, which was Sonos’ smallest portable speaker. One can hope that Sonos has managed to improve sound quality and battery life, so that this popular model can compete with the best from JBL and Sony, among others.
