A man has been transported to Haukeland hospital after a battery has exploded.

The police reported this on Tuesday morning. The police report that the man is seriously injured.

– Emergency services are working to get an overview of which type of battery has exploded, says operations manager Terje Magnussen.

The fire brigade was also called. They have ensured that there was no fire and have gone over the area with a heat-seeking camera.

A mechanic is said to have been injured

The explosion occurred at Tide’s facility. Tide has not yet responded to BA’s inquiries.

Gøran Rykkje works as technical manager in the operating company YES-EU. They are importers of Tide’s buses, and have service responsibility for the buses.

– I know very little now, but I am working on getting an overview, he says.

Rykkje states that it is a mechanic who is said to have been injured, i.e. not a bus driver.

The police say that the mechanic was working on the bus when the battery exploded. It is an electric bus.

Rykkje is in Oslo, but will get to Bergen today.

– I am not one hundred percent sure which battery has exploded, or why.

– Exploded in the bus

The battery that exploded must have been inside a bus, according to the police.

The bus was not in operation. The accident must have happened indoors at the facility, according to the police.

– There should not have been people in the bus, says Magnussen to BA.

Rykkje says that he is unsure whether the battery was inside the bus, or on the outside.

He doesn’t know how the injured mechanic is doing. The person must not have reported the damage himself.
