The two-and-a-half-page letter was written in January in connection with Norwegian police and prosecutors trying to question him in Pakistan, writes NRK.

He points out, among other things, that the EOS committee has criticized the Police Security Service (PST) for certain errors in the surveillance of Bhatti.

Want full visibility

– Among other things, he has received confirmation from the EOS committee that PST has violated his human rights. But they have refused to say in what context or what this applies to. He is naturally very curious about that, says Bhatti’s defender John Christian Elden to NTB.

From Friday: Bhatti has landed in Norway: Will be produced as a witness in the Matapour case next week

Bhatti therefore refuses to explain himself until he gets full access to “case and personal information, including third-party information registered about me with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Defence, PST, OPD and all ordinary police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” the letter says.

The EOS Committee controls the secret services – the Police Security Service, the Intelligence Service, the Defense Security Department and the National Security Authority – for the Storting.

Refuses to testify

Bhatti is charged with complicity in the terrorist shooting in Oslo on 25 June 2022, where two people were shot and killed when terrorist suspect Zaniar Matapour opened fire on the pubs Per på Hjørnet and London Pub.

The prosecution will have Bhatti as a witness in the ongoing trial against Matapour on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, according to the Oslo police. Bhatti will not explain himself there, according to the lawyer.

– He will not give any testimony in court. The court has been notified of this in advance, says Elden.

The prosecution would like to see that Bhatti nevertheless appears in the Oslo district court.

– In all criminal cases, we want to shed light on the criminal issue to the greatest extent possible. Bhatti could shed light on Matapour as a human being, and it could have been useful for the court to hear his testimony, says police attorney Ingvild Myrold.
