On Tuesday, there was full jubilation outside the clubhouse.
– This is like dynamite on the fire for us. This kind of attention gives us a lot of motivation to do even more for our local environment, said a delighted Tarjei Dale, who is general manager of the Bakken Local Environment Centre.
Together with employees and volunteers, he welcomed mayor Jørn Inge Næss, leader Ragnar Grøsfjeld and representatives from the council for people with disabilities outside Skien Grane’s clubhouse on Tuesday afternoon.
– You have built a great ramp so that everyone can enter and participate in your activities, and you meet all the requirements for the Accessibility Award – at the same time you contribute so much more for everyone in your immediate environment. This is very well deserved, expressed the mayor, and received full support from Grøsfjeld.
– We received many good suggestions for candidates this time. Nevertheless, it was a unanimous council that named this year’s winner. We congratulate you so much.
About the price
The accessibility award shall be an acknowledgment of the improvement of accessibility for people with disabilities in Skien municipality.
The purpose of the prize is to stimulate as many people as possible to work for and take physical measures aimed at universal design. It should stimulate the improvement of accessibility to businesses in the municipality, and thus act as a spur for others to work in the same direction.
The accessibility award can be given to publicly accessible places of any kind in Skien municipality (accessibility to buildings, information, culture, outdoor activities, sports, work, local environment, restaurants, cafes, etc.).
The availability price 2023 is NOK. NOK 25,000 as well as a framed diploma. The Council for People with Disabilities has acted as the approving jury.
The reason for the award is the work done to ensure that all types of disabilities are welcome. The winner meets the following criteria in the accessibility award’s statutes:

The candidate has shown a positive attitude / understanding of looking after the interests and needs of the disabled.

The initiative is a contribution to getting closer to the goal of full participation and equality for people with disabilities in society.
