Glimt returned after the cup loss to Lillestrøm on Wednesday. Here are some talking points after the sixth 3-pointer of the season.

Fingers crossed for Bjørkan

One of Glimt’s most stable and best offensive players, Fredrik André Bjørkan, had to give up after five or six minutes of play. The whole of Aspmyra saw how distraught the left-back was, and his reaction after the stretch unfortunately suggests that this is a serious injury. Hopefully it felt worse than it actually turns out to be, fingers crossed. Adam Sørensen is a good replacement, no doubt about that, but Bjørkan’s role in Glimt’s offensive game can hardly be overestimated. A real setback for both the player himself and for the whole team that Bjørkan had to give up.

Project Mikkelsen as striker

August Mikkelsen was once again preferred as striker from the start in this match. He is obviously a conscientious and hard-working player, but it is to be hoped that Kjetil Knutsen and his team can soon finish this rather special project with August as striker. He often becomes an easy match for big and strong stoppers and it simply does not work. There are many good reasons to start with a Mikkelsen in good shape, but he should of course be given other tasks. Hopefully, Kasper Høgh will soon be ready to play full games.

Håkon from sloppiness to goal

Håkon Evjen has to his credit to deliver a really good match after he returned to Glimt, perhaps with the exception of the away match against Ajax. There is nothing to say about the effort and the amount of work put in, not even in Sunday’s victory over Strømsgodset. But there is still some sloppiness and many support passes from the Narvik boy. Then he shows his class then, 73 minutes into the match. His sensitive and often precise left foot placed the ball beyond Per Kristian Bråtveit’s reach and the match’s only goal was a fact.

Zero tastes incredibly good

Strømsgodset probably felt that they were very close to getting something from Aspmyra this time. And they were really just a fantastic save from Nikita Haikin away from getting a point, let’s be honest. But this was the fourth game with zero goals for Glimt – who have only conceded 2 goals (Molde and RBK). It is strong, very strong. And you see it in the players now too, they celebrate good blocks, clearances and saves. Lovely!

The Erlend Osnes charging

Erlend Osnes is at it again as a crowd warm-up before the start of the match, now assisted by a younger colleague. This move has been the subject of many discussions in the past, and I think that new debates are underway. On Sunday it didn’t work at all, the audience was interrupted in the middle of the songs. Hope that perhaps both Erlend and Glimt will evaluate this with a critical eye now before we end up in yet another unsightly incitement debate.
