The police inform NTB that two masked men armed with handguns had come to a party with 15 adult women aged 40 to 60. The women were robbed of their phones, money and jewellery.
– No one should have been physically injured, says operations manager Jan Kristian Johnsrud at the Søreast police district at around 6 o’clock on Sunday morning.
The women speak neither Norwegian nor English, and the police therefore did not immediately perceive that it was a robbery, he says.
– But gradually we understand that they are threatened with weapons, says Johnsrud.
Checking video
The perpetrators left the scene on foot, but a witness saw them get into a car not far from the scene. So far, no one has been arrested.
According to the operations manager, the police are working with technical investigations, but do not want to go into more detail about what they will be working on. They will also check whether anything has been caught on any surveillance cameras, and whether cars may have filmed something.
In addition, an interpreter must be brought in so that the women can be questioned.
– Special case
Johnsrud tells VG that the case is special, and that the police believe the robbers must have known about the party. He says they will try to find video footage, including from cars in the area.
– Otherwise, we have a bit to go after, but we can’t go into detail about that at the moment.
The home where the incident happened was a semi-detached house. Several people are registered at the address, but only the woman who lives there was present.
The police do not believe there is a danger to others in the area. The report of the robbery came at 2.50am.
