The super battery was initially promised to arrive in 2022. Later, the dates have been constantly pushed forward, but it seems that Nio has been on track since Christmas time, roughly.

In connection with the Nio owner William Li tested the 150 kWt battery in December, namely Nio announced a production start around April this year. This form goes well with the just-announced customer launch date:

June 1.

Please note for Chinese customers.

And according to CarNewsChina it will only be possible to rent the battery, initially. The background is believed to be the stipulated price, which according to the website’s sources will be high – equivalent to what it costs to buy a brand new Nio ET5.

Those who rent the battery for a weekend can presumably enjoy something similar to the performance William Li logged in December:

The Nio manager then managed to drive a total of 1,044 kilometers in a Nio ET7. The instruments showed 3 percent residual current at the end of the journey.

Other conditions: average speed of 83.9, temperature from minus 2 to plus 12, load of around 190 kilos, including driver and copilot. Nines navigate-on-pilot+system was active during almost the entire trip. Compared to Norwegian conditions, the route was fairly flat, with start and finish at roughly the same height above sea level.

When the innovation – which will fit all Nio models – will become available to customers in our latitudes, is still in the blue.

– We cannot say anything about when this battery will be on the Norwegian market, informs the company’s Norwegian PR manager Ina Døhlen Lorentzen.
